Hi. I am Monica S. Gentry a United Real Estate East Carolina Agent. I started my career path as a United States Air Force Airman many years ago. I spent 9 years in the USAF were I traveled to Korea for a year, did a tour at Myrtle Beach AFB, and finished at Charleston AFB. After leaving the USAF, I went on to the US Postal Service were I spent 21 years and attained my highest achievement as a Level 21 Postmaster throughout my years of service. I started in Charleston, SC and ended in New Bern, NC. In 2016 I reached my final professional goal of becoming a Real Estate Agent. I believe all of these qualities are important when helping clients make the biggest purchase of their lives and or selling the home they have lived in and raised their families in for many years. It's all a process. I love everything about real estate. I like that it allows me to set goals continuously, the educational opportunities, and most of all the looks and feelings of joy from clients when a transaction closes. I love this new journey that I am on which I started at age 51. I believe it's never too late to go for your dreams and be successful. I Dream big and aim high and I do not let anything or anyone get in my way. God has my back and I fill my days with prayer, faith, knowledge, and Love. I have an amazing husband who supports me emotionally and physically whom I love with all of me. My daughter is my best creation. Her beauty, energy, and fearlessness of life makes me so envious and helps me to not be afraid of this thing called "life". I love her to pieces. My future is endless and I am loving every bit of the journey and I pray that all who read my bio gains encouragement for their aspirations. Life is too short not to!

I am a native of Maine, having lived there from birth to 17 years old. From there I moved to Florida where I lived for another 17 years. In Florida, I met my husband and we started our family. 10 years ago, however, when we moved to Wake Forest, NC I finally found myself to be “home”. North Carolina provides those amazing crisp fall nights and beautiful spring days without having to endure the sub-zero temperatures of the Northeast or the year-long oppressive heat and humidity of Florida.
I have numerous years of experience in the world of corporate event and conference planning and I pride myself in my ability to listen and provide exactly what the client is looking for. I will not stop until I’ve exhausted every opportunity to make my client satisfied!
I am so excited to have a career in which my love for building relationships and making people happy can play a vital role in assisting someone in making one of life’s most important and financially significant decisions – that of buying a home. If you’re looking for someone who loves what they do and is passionate about making the home buying process a memorable and positive experience, then you have found your girl!
A native to the Raleigh area, I graduated from North Carolina State University with aspirations to become a successful Real Estate Agent. I began my career working in hospitality, where I gained a keen sense for customer service and sales. While always making my customers the top priority, I also learned the importance of connecting on a personal level and developing effective relationships to better service their needs. Recently, I achieved my dream of obtaining a license to practice Real Estate, and I look forward to making an impact in my new career!
Although I am a native of the beautiful vacation state of Maine, I moved to the Triangle area in 1985 to earn my Master of Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. I later joined the University as a financial analyst and, after holding several progressively responsible positions in finance and administration, retired from Duke in the summer of 2016 after 24 rewarding years. Although I am a relatively new real estate professional, having obtained my license and joined United Real Estate in the spring of 2017, real estate has always been my passion. During my career with Duke University, I bought and sold several investment properties of my own so in my retirement, it was a natural fit to make my passion, my second career.
I particularly love the antique homes. I am currently in the process of renovating an historic home in Cherryfield, Maine and a 1941 home in Graham, NC, in addition to assisting sellers and buyers to maximize their potential with home ownership. When I purchase an older home, I think of myself as the caretaker, to preserve and improve upon it, to pass it on the next caretaker. When I think about homes that were built in this century or the latter part of last century, I think of them as future antique homes, and in order to become such, believe that they are entitled to the same care and attention. Whether you are an aficionado of antique homes or newer homes, I would welcome the opportunity to represent you on either the sale of your current home or purchase of a new. Rest assured, I will love it as much as you have during your time as caretaker or as a new homeowner. Please call upon me to assist you in this very important step in your life!
After I graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in finance, I jumped right into a career with a prominent rental car agency, thinking that this was the logical next step. I was following the path of get a good education, then get a good job, climb the corporate ladder and raise a family. There was something that always felt off to me. I worked my way up to management, and put in five and a half years, before I decided to take a leap of faith and leave my company to pursue a career in real estate. I joined my wife at United Real Estate, associating with the Triangle office in Raleigh. I then went on to get my VA license, and am currently dually affiliated with United Real Estate Horizon in northern VA as well.
Real estate has always been a passion of mine, whether it be buying and selling, or renting my own properties. I thought it was going to be scary leaving a career I had worked at for a long period of time to enter into a field that promises you nothing, but I knew I had made the right choice and it felt natural. I wouldn’t change the path my wife and I have chosen for the world. This career path allows us the freedom to do all the things that we love together, such as traveling from the sandy beaches to the scenic mountains! We love to explore, work out and grow together all while helping others any chance we get. I would be honored to guide you through the real estate process!
